Safe Ministry at OEC

Orange Evangelical Church is committed to providing programs that model the love of Christ to all whom we have contact with. We seek to promote physical, emotional and spiritual safety for everyone, with particular care given to vulnerable people. The NSW Child Safe Standards inform our safe ministry practices and provide a framework for ongoing improvement. We are committed to:

  • Embedding safety in organisational leadership, governance and culture

  • Carefully screening, recruiting and training OEC’s staff and ministry volunteers

  • Vulnerable people participating in decisions that affect them

  • Taking diverse needs into account

Our ongoing concern for safe ministry practices and our zero tolerance of misconduct and abuse by staff and volunteers means that OEC will:

  • Comply fully with child protection legislation

  • Address risks in physical and online environments

  • Respond promptly to any concern raised about the behaviour of OEC’s staff or volunteers

  • Provide supervision (within the context of the ministries of OEC) for anyone who is known to have abused a child or another vulnerable person
